- 500g minced beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 stalks celery, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 cups mashed potatoes
- 1 cup grated cheese (optional)
- Olive oil for cooking
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add onions, carrots, and celery; sauté until softened.
- Add the minced beef and garlic; cook until browned.
- Stir in the tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Transfer the beef mixture to a baking dish. Spread the mashed potatoes over the top, smoothing it out.
- If desired, sprinkle grated cheese on top of the mashed potatoes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For a healthier option, consider using ground turkey or chicken instead of beef, and sweet potatoes instead of regular mashed potatoes.
