  • 2 large eggs

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 1/4 cup milk (for frosting)
  • 1 tsp ground ginger (for frosting)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, salt, ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In another bowl, mix together the melted butter, brown sugar, and molasses until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well.
  4. Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until combined.
  5. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. While the brownies are baking, prepare the frosting by mixing together the butter, powdered sugar, milk, ginger, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  8. Once the brownies are cool, spread the frosting on top. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

Don’t overmix the batter to keep brownies tender. Check doneness early to avoid overbaking.
