Ingredients

  • 1 medium butternut squash, peeled and diced
  • 2 apples, cored and diced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the diced butternut squash and apples.
  3. Add brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, maple syrup, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  4. Mix well to coat the squash and apples.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and dot with butter.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the squash is tender and everything is caramelized and fragrant.
  7. Serve warm as a delicious side dish.

Notes

Choose apples that hold shape, like Honeycrisp or Gala. Use prepeeled squash or frozen cubed butternut for quick preparation.
