  • Total Time: 22 minutes
  • Yield: 8 biscuits 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar (if using), and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the milk until just combined; do not overmix.
  5. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead a few times.
  6. Roll or pat the dough to about 1-inch thickness.
  7. Cut biscuits with a biscuit cutter or glass.
  8. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Serve warm.

Notes

Work quickly with cold butter to avoid overhandling the dough. For extra flavor, brush with melted butter after baking.
