Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (or substitute with a vegetarian option)
- 4 medium potatoes (peeled and sliced)
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup shredded cheese (your choice)
- 1 onion (chopped)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion, seasoning with salt and pepper. Stir until the meat is cooked and onions are translucent.
- In a large baking dish, layer the sliced potatoes evenly at the bottom. Spread the browned beef mixture on top.
- Pour the cream of mushroom soup over the layers, ensuring it’s evenly distributed.
- Sprinkle your choice of shredded cheese generously over the top.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for about 1 hour or until the potatoes are fork-tender.
- For the last 10 minutes of baking, remove the foil to let the cheese become golden-brown.
- Allow the casserole to cool slightly before serving hot.
Notes
Let the casserole rest a few minutes post-baking for easier serving. Consider using alternative ingredients to customize the dish.
