Scale
  • 1 pound cake or sponge cake, cubed
  • 2 cups vanilla custard (homemade or store bought)
  • 1½ cups whipped cream

  • ½ cup raspberry or strawberry jam
  • Optional: ¼ cup orange juice for soaking cake
  • Garnish: extra whipped cream, berries, white chocolate curls or mint

Instructions

  1. In a trifle dish or large glass bowl, layer half of the cake cubes.
  2. Drizzle with orange juice if using.
  3. Spread half the jam followed by half the berries then custard.
  4. Repeat the layers: cake, jam, berries, custard.
  5. Top with whipped cream and garnish as desired.

Notes

Use store bought custard and whipped cream for quicker preparation. For a kid-friendly version, skip the orange juice soak and use a light syrup made from jam and water.
