- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon red food coloring
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine the vegetable oil, eggs, vanilla extract, and red food coloring. Mix well.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until well combined.
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- While the brownies are baking, prepare the cream cheese frosting by mixing the softened cream cheese and butter in a bowl. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
- Once brownies are cool, spread the cream cheese frosting over the top.
- Cut into squares and enjoy!
Notes
Use a silicone spatula to scrape every bit of batter into the pan. For faster cleanup, line the pan with parchment.
