A delicious holiday treat featuring sweet pears and rich cheese wrapped in a flaky crust.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 ripe pear, thinly sliced
  • 100g Brie cheese, rind removed and cubed
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced pears and sprinkle them with brown sugar. Cook for about 5 minutes until caramelized and tender.
  3. Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut it into desired snowflake shapes.
  4. Place a spoonful of the caramelized pears and a few cubes of Brie on each pastry shape.
  5. Fold or seal the pastries to encase the filling adequately.
  6. Gently brush the tops with the beaten egg to achieve a beautiful golden color after baking.
  7. Place the pastries in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until they are golden brown.
