Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup milk or plant milk
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup
  • Juice of 1/4 lemon (optional)
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • Optional tea bag (black or green)
  • Optional splash of vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine water and milk in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add grated ginger, turmeric, cinnamon, and black pepper.
  3. Heat until steaming but not boiling, about 3 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. If using a tea bag, steep it in the hot mix for 2 to 3 minutes then remove.
  5. Whisk in honey or maple syrup and optional vanilla, then stir in lemon if using.
  6. Pour into a mug and enjoy immediately or transfer to a thermos for later.

Notes

Store leftover cooled drink in a sealed jar in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat gently on the stove or microwave.
